Cool Article + Happy Memorial Day!

Hey Everyone,

How awesome is this weather? It’s really encouraging to see so many different people of all different ages out enjoying the sunshine and working on their skating.

I found this article online that I thought you all would enjoy: http://dvice.com/archives/2011/05/a-house-perfect.php#5

According to the article, what you see in the pictures is supposed to represent ocean waves. But, since we all have the skateboarder mentality, those things look like giant quarter pipes and half pipes!

Anyway, that’s all I have to report this afternoon. We’ve got a few things we’re wrapping up here at our shop before the bulk of the crew takes off for the Memorial Day holiday.

Stay Classy.

Being more clever than you look is always better than looking more clever than you are,

1% For The Planet

Hey All,

With Earth Day upon us, I wanted to take a few moments to blog about our commitment to the environment. A description of our commitment is on our website (Giving Back), and I know I’ve written about it before, but it bears repeating.

We are proud members of an organization called 1% For The Planet. Companies that are a part of this agree to donate at least 1% of their annual revenue to an approved charity. The notion behind this is that 1% isn’t enough to cripple a company’s financial holding, so really, why wouldn’t you do it?

During the planning stages of Liberty Skate, we kept stressing that we wanted to do something for the planet as well. This organization allows us to contribute financially, but we also try our best to purchase materials and services from other, like-minded companies.

Because our primary product lines are wood half pipes, wood quarter pipes and wood grind boxes, it was obvious that we should donate money to the National Forests. Every $1 plants one tree. Based on even the most conservative revenue projects, we’re planting trees that more than replace what we used for our ramps.

Don’t worry – revenue from our other lines also gets donated. A part of every penny you spend with us on clothing, paint, skateboards, pads – whatever – will be donated.

So what are you waiting for? Buy yourself a new board, some new shirts and a couple ramps. It’ll be your good deed for Earth Day!

They say time is the best teacher.. it also kills all it’s students,

Another new section coming soon to the website

Hey Everyone,

I’ve missed you all. We’ve been working on so many different things here at headquarters that I seem to have neglected the blog entries. I hope you can all find it in your hearts to forgive me.

I wanted to take some time today to blog about a new offering from Liberty Skate that I believe will excite you. It’s something I’ve been hinting at for months. It’s…

PROTECTIVE PAINT!

It took much longer than any of us originally thought, but we think the end result is pretty great. It’s a single coat, water-based clear gloss protective coating. Once the surface dries, your all-wood skate ramp will be better protected from the weather, without jeopardizing the overall skateability of the surface. We were also able to do this at a great low price:

1 Gallon: $85
1 Quart: $30

Free shipping.

The quart will handle every size grind box and most of the quarter pipes. The gallon can handle every quarter pipe and the 8′ half pipe. 2 gallons will take care of the 16′ half pipe.

We have the paint on hand right now. I’m working with my web team to get the new section of the site up and running. I’m hoping to have this available online in the next week or two. Naturally, I’ll keep you updated!

Other than that we’ve been busy getting ourselves ready for the big spring rush. We’ve also been really enjoying the new Stuff section and all that’s been offering – shirts, hoodies, women’s clothing, youth clothing, completes and safety gear.

I’ll be in touch with you all again soon.

STUFF!!!!

Hey Folks,

It’s been a little while since I posted. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you know that my lack of blogging has been due to frantically working on getting the new Stuff section live.

We’re still ironing out a few things here and there, but the good news is that the new section is live!
We now offer a number of different popular brands in the following categories: Completes, Helmets, Pads, Men’s Tshirts, Men’s Sweatshirts, Hats, Women’s Apparel and Youth Apparel.

It took quite a bit of searching, but we eventually settled on a wholesale provider that we are supremely confident in to provide us with all the latest and greatest for all our categories. In fact, they happen to have a very slick way of managing our inventory. Every single day we tap into their server to check for new stuff. If there are new products available, they automatically will get downloaded to our website. So what does that mean for you, the customer? If you look through our shirts online, then check back the next day, we’ll probably have an even better selection!

This was huge for us. We want to make sure that we’re making Liberty Skate the best possible website for you. So please, go to the new section and check out all the new Stuff we’re offering. We’re really proud and excited, and we hope you enjoy it too.
We have a bunch of other things still in the works. I’ll be sure to keep you all updated! Trust me, you’re all going to really love what we have in store for this spring season!

Toolbar in the Blog

Hey Folks,

I hope your weeks are going well. If you’ve been keeping up with the blogs, Twitter and Facebook you know that we’ve been working like mad to enhance the Liberty Skate website. We’ve got loads of stuff still in the works – namely, a new apparel section, skateboard completes, safety equipment as well as a brand new protective paint for the all wood products! Everyone here at Liberty Skate is really excited about all of those, and I’m excited to tell you all about them as they become available (all of which should happen this month).

I’m writing today about yet another new feature. This happens to be in our Blog. If you’re currently reading this, then chances are you’ve already seen it.

It’s a new toolbar to help you consume, share and interact with all the content. You can connect to the toolbar through a number of different social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, to name two. You can also share the content that’s printed on the pages via sharing services like Digg or just plain old email. You’ll also notice we have a “ticker tape” of sorts. Here you’ll see the latest posts from our Twitter pages.

On the right side of the toolbar, you can check out some of the Liberty Skate social media. You can look through some photos (submitted by us and others), videos, Facebook pages and Twitter pages.

Lastly, just for kicks, we opted to add in a Games section. Grant it, these aren’t fancy or graphic rich, but be careful, they’re more addicting than you think!

Anyway, that’s all I have to report now. As I said, there are still plenty of other things in the works, so please stayed tuned!

New Skateboard Products with Liberty Skateboard Ramps

Hey There,

It’s been a little while since my last blog entry. But there’s a good reason! I’ve been hatching a plan to improve the Liberty Skate website.

We’re excited to announce that we’re adding products! In a few weeks you can look forward to a ton of t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, helmets, pads and of course skateboards! We’ve been thinking of adding this sort of thing for quite some time now. We wanted to make sure we did it right by being able to offer everything at a competitive, affordable price. We wanted to make sure we would be able to get the products to you quickly – if you’re like me, once you decide you want something, you want it right away. But most importantly, we wanted to make sure we could offer popular, stylish brands for youth, women and men alike.

You can look forward to brands such as Element, Plan B, Birdhouse and Pro Tec, just to name a few. We have a great relationship with our supplier, so you can rest assured that we’ll be constantly updating the different lines, adding brands, adding products etc.

We track the website traffic, and it’s clear to us that in addition to our core products (grind boxes, quarter pipes and half pipes) you all really enjoy checking out the blog, our photographs and our videos. We really hope you love the new section as well.

Stay tuned. It’s still under construction, but the new section of the site will be up really soon! I promise!

As always, we welcome any and all feedback. Please email us at info@libertyskate.com

Thanks everyone!

New To Liberty Skate

Hey Folks,

This winter weather needs to stop. It was nice around the holidays, but now it’s becoming excessive. Every week more and more snow and ice coats the ground, and outdoor skateboard season seems like it will never arrive.

But the good news is the Groundhog did not see his shadow, so spring is near.

But the real reason for this post is to announce a new feature on the Liberty Skate site. We have added in Live Chat. We aren’t the first retail website out there to add this feature. We’ve heard so many success stories out there that we thought we’d give it a try. It’s been active now for a couple days, and so far it’s been a fascinating experience. We hope it continues to work out well.

We’ve always been available to answer questions by email or telephone, but we’re finding that sometimes customers have a very quick question that they think of while shopping on our site. Give it a try and be sure to tell your friends about it too!

How do you know when it’s time to tune your bagpipes?

New Promotion

Hey Folks,

The weather up here in PA and the rest of the northeast has been pretty brutal so far. I thought we paid our dues last year with all that snow, but apparently not!

I thought that perhaps the purchase of a new skate ramp or grind box would warm you up, so I’ve decided to offer a promotional coupon to all you loyal blog readers.

At checkout, please enter code: skateinwinter

This coupon is good for 12% off your purchase. I’ll keep it active for about 1 week.

For those of you in the warm weather – us northern folk are really jealous.

Irregardless of the weather, we’ve still been fortunate in that the orders keep rolling in. If you’re reading this blog and you are one of our existing customers – thank you. For those of you thinking about taking the plunge and purchasing a Liberty Skate product, please be in touch. We’re happy to help however we can.

Considering some additions to Liberty Skate

Hey Folks,

For those of you in the Northern states, I hope you’re not too inundated with snow. As far as I’m concerned, the spring time can’t get here fast enough.

We’re dedicated to continuing to improve Liberty Skate, and to continuing to offer you, our customers, the best possible website, services and products possible. As you know, our product offering is currently limited to just 8 items (ramps and grind boxes of various sizes). Of course, we want to stay within the realm of the skateboard industry. For the spring we’d like to be able to offer you additional products that can be used in conjunction with or independent from our current product mix.

You’ve all been extremely helpful in the past when I’ve asked for some feedback, so i thought I’d open it up to you once again. Are there any products you wish Liberty Skate offered that we don’t offer now?

We really do read all your feedback, and we take every suggestion seriously.

The best way to submit your suggestions and/or feedback is email: info@libertyskate.com

Thanks so much!
